Your tour begins at Het Plein, where you'll learn about Willem van Oranje, the Father of the Fatherland, and his role in the Dutch Revolt. Walk towards the Mauritshuis Royal Picture Gallery, home to famous paintings by Johannes Vermeer, and hear about its history. Visit the Binnenhof & Ridderzaal within the parliament complex, where you'll learn about its significance and might even see some ministers. Explore the Hofvijver pond and the Thorbecke Monument, which is related to the Dutch constitution. Stroll along Lange Voorhout, known as the Champs-Élysées of The Hague, passing embassies, an art museum, and the Noordeinde Palace, the working palace of the Dutch king. Visit the Grote Kerk, known for the stork on top, and see the Statue of Johan de Witt, the only Dutch head of government eaten by an angry mob.
