Overview

This tour emphasizes two of the Douro Valley wine-producing villages for visitors to this UNESCO World Heritage region: Favaios and Provesende. We will visit them! Among the Douro wine villages, you’ll find the remains of Romanesque churches, 17th century palaces; traditions and handicrafts and well-established wine estates (quintas). Plus some incredible scenery. Favaios is known for its fortified moscatel wine, which is lighter and often more refreshing than port wine and it's also known due to their traditional bakeries. The village of Provesende itself has a surprising number of grand manor houses decorated with stone coats of arms. Between these two villages we will visit a wine producer and will taste his wines with a typical picnic lunch. Breathtaking views will follow us all day!
