Overview

The tour begins at the Gubbio Cathedral and the Palazzo Ducale, built by Federico da Montefeltro in the Renaissance and particularly famous for its impressive “studiolo” made of inlaid wood panels. Then follow your knowledgeable guide to the very heart of Gubbio, the marvellous square called Piazza Grande: from here you will enjoy a breathtaking view over the beautiful Umbrian countryside! Here, facing the square, you can find the most important medieval palaces in Gubbio, like the massive Palazzo dei Consoli, that is now a museum housing the Iguvine Tablets (Tabulae Iguvinae), the largest surviving text in the Umbrian language, from pre-Roman times (they are more than 2300 years old!).
