Overview
Discover Amédée Island and its magical coral-fringed lagoon, a perfect spot to experience New Caledonia’s southern lagoon up close. This island is the largest true coral cay on the New Caledonia south lagoon surrounding reef, just 45 mn by water taxi from Noumea. Close to the Great Barrier Reef and located in the heart of a protected marine reserve, this islet is particularly renowned for its underwater scenery and crystal-clear waters. Swim with the turtles at Amedee Island, and snorkel all year round without stinger suits on this unique, protected reef island. You can also observe colorful marine life along coral reefs. You can visit its 56-meter-high lighthouse, the only metal lighthouse in France, and climb it with a pass (300 XPF per person). This tour is suitable for guests under 70 years old and in good physical condition. The transfer to the island is by inflatable boat and can be quite bumpy. Snorkeling is self-guided, with safety instructions provided by the skipper.
